Autumn has surely arrived here in Finland. The first autumn storm has happened, it's getting colder and the days are getting shorter. The picture above has the season summed up pretty well. Fallen leaves, small toadstools and a little squirrel (can you spot it?). The prefect time to snuggle up inside with some hot chocolate and a lovely cinnamon bun after an autumnal walk. The gloves for my boyfriend are coming along nicely. Unfortunately I ran out of yarn just before I finished the second one. Of course, this yarn is nowhere near to be found in Helsinki. One shop carries the brand and this type of yarn, but not the colour I need. So my mum is buying it for me in Amsterdam. When I get home mid-October, I can finish the gloves. It was also time for a new project, a Gryffindor scarf for a dear friend of mine. She used to live in Helsinki, that's how we met. Now, she's living in the UK, we met in August when I was in London. We hadn't seen each other for over two years! Such a long time. When we met, we went to the Harry Potter store at Kings' Cross Station. She wanted to buy one of the Gryffindor scarves, but upon seeing the price tag, she put it down again disappointedly. That's when I offered to knit one for her. This year's first Christmas present is officially in the making. This rose is a last snippet of summer... When I came out of the metro on Friday, someone was handing out red roses promoting a new store. I love flowers, but unfortunately, they are rather expensive here. Or maybe they're just really cheap in the Netherlands. Anyway, I never buy them here. But when someone is giving away flowers, I won't say no. This rose is such a cheerful sight when the weather is murky and grey.
